Don’t Be Perfect, Be Unstoppable
Life is what you make of it. A general goal is to be happy. I think the ultimate goal is absolute freedom (the ability to do what you want). And I believe it should not be just a dream.
So to make it true, you have to take action. And not sloppy actions.
Yes, what they call “Stuff that matters“.
What does unstoppable mean? It means that can not be stopped. It’s something or someone who keeps going at what he or she is doing.
Consistency in execution.
Constantly taking action.
Even micro-actions. Small moves in the right direction are always better than no action at all. Even moving in the wrong direction may be better than zero action. It’s better to fail fast and embrace failure than getting paralyzed from over analysis or perfectionism.
Stop being scared. Ask yourself what is the worst that can happen. Most of the time, it is not that bad, and reversible. If you think an action can ruin your life or business, then yes, it might need more thought and maybe help from others too.
However if it’s making a step to a positive change and brighter future, new career, then take the leap.
Start doing now, even if you think you’re not ready. Like a band before the show. Do you think musicians are all born ready to get on stage and deliver the best experience possible for thousands of fans?
A little summary…
Being unstoppable means doing things, taking action on stuff that matters, no matter what, no exception.
Also, TRUST YOUR GUTS! For some this is the shittiest piece of advice. For others, it’s a game changer or life saver.
You already know what’s best for you. Don’t overthink it.
Your guts may be better advisor than your brain who wants to protect you from change. Change is not comfortable, it’s the opposite: getting out of your comfort zone. But it’s where you have to swim.
Our reptilian brain will bring up any reason or excuse (even as silly as possible) to prevent us from the unknown. Because the unknown is a potential threat.
You have to be conscious of this happening. When you recognize that, you may question yourself:
What if someone else told me that? Would I reply “oh your goal sucks, you better NOT change anything and stay the same person you are right now”.
Dream.
Set crazy goals: be unrealistic and achieve those goals and get beyond expectations.
Invest in yourself. Invest in relationships that matter.
Invest in “good”, not mediocrity.
Do good deep work, not shallow work. You may feel deep good work is not good enough, there are so many other talented people, successful and who perform at a way higher level than you are.
True.
And that’s fine. Guess what, they started somewhere. Everyone is a beginner when they… begin. Perform at your current highest level, learn, practice new things, get better.
Again if I have to take the music analogy then, so be it:
There are many highly talented musician out there, they release their stuff on Youtube. They have few thousands views at best. They’re almost unknown. They are independent, underground, don’t do music for the masses, or their label is not a giant. Yet they make people lives so much better. You just have to read some of the comments they get. I’m not debating music genres, but most of the time those artists are followed by only true fans. Or they have converted people to their music because it’s just so good.
You are the right person for the right audience.
Let your emotions speak. Wether it’s sadness or joy, anger or love. Let your crazyness shine through your work.
You are happy if you do actions that make you proud. and most of the time, it’s not for the money . It may be a result though. But the action itself is not gratifying instantly. Important stuff is not instant bullshit.
Most of the time, what makes you proud is achieving things. Even if you have the ability to achieve things, it’s generally the end of those that make you happy. But then, you’re back to square nothing. So you have to keep moving forward.
It’s important you are happy in the process of doing things, not only at their completion. Which means do the stuff that you love.
Learn to do more in less time. ALWAYS SIMPLIFY. Systemize and automate. And set greater goals.
Make an impact.
Don’t be perfect, just do the right things, you’ll be noticed, and you’ll do some magic eventually.
Be humble, accept your flaws, embrace failure, take ownership and admit your mistakes.
Become your best self. Start now to become version 2.0. one step at a time.
So you’re a small business owner that provide local services and your dream goal is to become a recognized expert consultant and business coach. What’s preventing you from being so? Nothing. If anything, break it, turn it upside down, jump over it, pee on it.
People will see your talent if you allow them to see it. So do some meaningful work for them, for yourself.
KISS! Not the band this time. Keep It Simple Stupid.
If you make things simple right from the start, then you are more willing to act. So when planing ahead, you can go as far as you want, but keep the steps simple.
How do you eat a blue elephant? One blue bite at a time. Actually don’t eat any elephant, they are mostly protected species.
Create the habit of doing the right thing. The right thing is one that brings you towards your goal.
If you take one baby step an hour, you’ll be one big step towards your goal every day.
If you want to learn some business skills and you read a business book for 30 minutes every day, how many books would that amount to in a year? And most importantly, how much now do you know AND will implement?
BE UNSTOPPABLE
You only have one life. Arguably cats have nine. And you’re not a cat.
That’s it… totally random. I let the flow of words go. It’s as raw and unstructured as when I wrote it. Not much editing except the orange styling.
I hope it was motivational enough for someone. Comments and additional tips are of course advice and you can use the super fancy box below for that matter 😉
